Saltwater Pool Service in Hobe Sound

A salt system keeps working after you lock the door and head north. Whether it keeps working well is another matter. We look after Hobe Sound salt pools through the empty months.

Who is checking the salt cell in August?

Hobe Sound has plenty of homes whose owners spend part of the year somewhere else, from the streets near Jupiter Island to the quieter neighborhoods inland. Many of those pools run on salt, and owners often leave in spring believing the system will take care of itself. It will make chlorine, as long as nothing interrupts it. The problem is how many things can interrupt it while nobody is home.

A salt system left alone through a Florida summer is a chain of dependencies. The pump has to run on schedule, the cell has to see enough flow, salinity has to stay in range, and the plates have to stay clean enough to work. Break any link and production slows or stops, often without anything visible in the pool for a week or two. By the time the water shows a problem, the problem has usually been building.

What tends to go wrong in an empty house

  • The output was set for winter. A production level that kept the pool clean in February can fall short in July, when warm water and long sun hours raise chlorine demand.
  • Rain drops the salinity. Weeks of afternoon storms and overflow dilute the salt. Many cells slow down or stop and post a low-salt warning, and that warning is easy to miss on a panel nobody is reading.
  • Scale builds unchecked. pH climbs steadily on a salt pool. Left alone, it lays scale on the cell plates, which cuts output, which lets the pool slide further.
  • Power or timer interruptions. A storm outage or tripped breaker can stop the pump, or reset a simple timer, and the cell produces nothing while the pump is off.

None of these is dramatic on day one. Each one is easy to catch on a weekly visit.

How we look after a seasonal salt pool

Each week we test the water ourselves, bring pH back down, check salinity and stabilizer, and look at the cell's output setting against the season. We confirm the pump ran its schedule, read any warnings on the salt panel, and look at the cell for scale. Fine sand and pine debris common to Hobe Sound yards get cleared from baskets and the pool floor so they do not load the filter.

After each visit you get a written note, so you can see from anywhere that the cell is producing and the chemistry is holding. If we find a fault, such as a cell that no longer responds to cleaning or a control board that will not power up, we describe it plainly and wait for approval from you or your designated contact. Repairs are performed by licensed partners we coordinate and quoted before work.

Pricing

A standard screened pool starts at $170 per month for weekly service with routine chemicals included, and a saltwater system adds $20 per month. Open pools under heavy tree cover can run higher, and the free evaluation sets the final rate. Salt cell cleaning is $60 to $75 when the cell needs it. Salt and other specialty chemicals are billed separately and discussed with you before they are used.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I turn the salt system off while I am away?+

Generally no. If the cell is off, the pool has no sanitizer source, and a Florida summer will turn it quickly. The better approach is to keep it running, set output for the season, and have someone verifying the water every week.

Can I watch my salt system remotely?+

If your controller has an app, you can see settings and alarms, which helps. It does not show you actual chlorine or pH in the water, so remote monitoring works best alongside weekly testing and written visit notes.

What if the cell fails while I am up north?+

We tell you what we found and what the options are, including whether the cell may still be under warranty. Nothing beyond routine service happens without approval, and in the meantime we add chlorine by hand at each visit to help keep the water protected while you decide.

Do you need anyone home for the visits?+

No. Most seasonal customers simply arrange gate and enclosure access once. Tell us about any alarm system, pets, or a home-watch company so the access plan is clear from the first visit.
