The power came back, the pool equipment did not
Wet season in Port St. Lucie brings afternoon lightning, brief outages, and the occasional surge when power returns. Modern pool equipment is full of electronics: variable-speed pump drives, automation panels, salt system controllers and heater boards. After a storm, owners often find a pump displaying a fault, a controller that lost its schedule, or a system that simply will not respond. Sometimes it is a tripped breaker or a setting that needs restoring. Sometimes a board was damaged.
Sun Harbor Pools diagnoses these problems on site across Port St. Lucie, including Tradition and St. Lucie West, subject to route availability. We identify whether the issue is power, programming or a failed component. Any repair or replacement is performed by licensed partners we coordinate, quoted before work.
Newer equipment and the warranty question
A large share of Port St. Lucie pools are relatively young, and plenty of equipment pads are still within a manufacturer's warranty period. That changes the order of operations. Before anyone opens a pump drive or a controller, it is worth finding the install date and the paperwork, because warranty claims usually go through the manufacturer or the original installer, and their terms decide who should do the work.
When we diagnose newer equipment, we note model information and the symptom in detail so you have what you need to start a warranty claim if one applies. If the equipment is out of warranty, or the problem is not covered, we lay out the options and coordinate a licensed partner with a quote you approve first.
Common post-storm and new-pad symptoms
- Pump shows a fault code or will not start. Could be a drive fault, a power issue, or a protective shutdown. We check what is accessible and explain what the code points to.
- Automation lost its schedule or modes. The pool runs at the wrong times, or the spa will not switch over. Often fixable with reprogramming.
- Salt system shows no output. Flow detection, power to the controller, or the cell itself.
- Heater will not respond. Flow, controller communication or the heater's own board.
- Equipment runs but the water is losing ground. Weak flow from a filter loaded with construction dust or storm debris can mimic an equipment failure.
If a pool turned green while equipment was down, recovery is separate, typically $250 to $500 and quoted after assessment.
After a storm damages pool electronics, owners often ask about surge protection. We can point out where the electrical side of the pad looks exposed, but any electrical work, including surge devices, belongs with a licensed electrician or a licensed partner we coordinate, quoted before work.
Our scope, clearly
We diagnose pumps, filters, valves, heaters, salt systems, automation and cleaners. Builder punch-list items on the shell, plaster or pebble finishes, tile, decks, screen enclosures and construction are outside our scope, and for a new pool those usually belong with the builder.
Get the system looked at
Call or text (772) 919-9365, or request a quote. Send a photo of any fault code or display, the approximate install date, and when the problem started relative to the storm or outage. We will diagnose the cause and coordinate any repair through licensed partners, quoted before work begins.
Frequently Asked Questions
My pump has an error code after a power outage. What should I do?+
Check the breaker first, then note the code. Some codes clear once power is stable; others point to a failed component. If it does not clear, contact us and we will diagnose it on site.
Is my new pool equipment still under warranty?+
It may be. Check your closing documents or builder paperwork for the install date and the manufacturer's terms. We can document the symptom to support a claim if one applies.
Do you handle surface or finish problems on a new pool?+
No. Surface finishes, shell issues and construction defects are outside our scope and usually belong with the builder.
Can you restore my automation schedule after an outage?+
Usually, yes. If the controller is working and only lost its settings, we can reprogram schedules and modes. If hardware failed, we explain the repair options.
