Filter pressure climbing right after a cleaning
A filter gauge that reads high a few days after the filter was cleaned is one of the more confusing calls we get from Palm City. So is the opposite: pressure that reads low while the returns barely move. Both point to a circulation problem, and on a larger property with a long run from the pool to the pad, there are more places for that problem to hide.
Sun Harbor Pools diagnoses Palm City pool equipment by reading the whole system: pressure, flow, valve positions, and what is happening in the filter itself. We explain the cause and the options. If a component needs repair or replacement, the work is performed by licensed partners we coordinate, and it is quoted before work starts.
What filter and valve trouble usually means
- High pressure soon after cleaning. Media that is worn out or chemically clogged, a partially closed return valve, or a restriction downstream such as a heater or salt cell.
- Low pressure with weak flow. Something is starving the pump: a full basket, a clogged impeller, a suction-side air leak, or a valve that has drifted.
- Sand or DE back in the pool. Often a broken lateral or grid inside the filter, or a multiport valve that is not sealing between positions.
- Water at the backwash line when it should be dry. A worn multiport gasket can let water bypass to waste continuously, which can also look like a leak.
- A gauge that never moves. Sometimes the problem is just the gauge, which makes every other reading unreliable until it is addressed.
Some of these are solved with a proper filter teardown, which runs $95 to $125. Others need a part, and that is where a licensed partner comes in with a quote you approve first.
When storms put the pad under water
Palm City yards near canals and the South Fork of the St. Lucie River can see standing water after a heavy summer storm or tropical system. If your equipment pad was flooded, we recommend leaving the pump, heater and controller off until they have been checked, because water in electrical components is a safety issue, not just an equipment one. We assess what was submerged, look for debris pulled into baskets and filters, and identify which components need a licensed partner to evaluate or repair before the system runs again.
Larger properties, more equipment
Palm City pools often come with heaters, water features, cleaners and automation that all depend on adequate flow. A heater that cycles off or a cleaner that slows down can be a filter problem in disguise. We trace the symptom back through the system before anyone recommends a new part. Long plumbing runs also matter when a pump needs replacing. A pump chosen only by horsepower may be a poor match for a system with extra distance, several features or a raised spa, so any recommendation we make accounts for the full layout.
Our scope stops at the equipment. Shell cracks, resurfacing, decks, screen enclosures and construction are outside what we do.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my filter pressure high even though it was just cleaned?+
The filter media may be at the end of its life or clogged with oils and minerals, or there may be a restriction after the filter, such as a partly closed valve. We check each possibility in order.
My pad flooded in a storm. Can I turn the pump back on?+
We recommend leaving the equipment off until it has been checked. Water in electrical parts is a safety concern, and running a damaged pump can make things worse.
Is a new multiport valve something you install?+
No. We diagnose the valve and explain what it needs. Replacement is performed by licensed partners we coordinate and quoted before work.
Can a filter problem make my heater shut off?+
Yes. Heaters need adequate flow to operate, and a restricted filter is a common reason a heater cycles off or will not fire.
