When no one is home to hear the pump stop
Hobe Sound has a lot of homes that sit quiet for part of the year. A tripped breaker, a failed motor or a time clock that never restarted after an outage can leave a pool without circulation, and in Florida heat that does not stay a small problem for long. The first sign is often a call from a neighbor, a landscaper mentioning green water, or an owner arriving in November to a pool that needs far more than a filter clean.
Sun Harbor Pools diagnoses Hobe Sound pool equipment whether or not anyone is home, provided we have safe access to the pad. We report what we find in writing, explain the options in terms an out-of-town owner can act on, and coordinate any repair with licensed partners we work with. Nothing is scheduled until the quote is approved.
What we check on an equipment call here
- Power and controls. Whether the pump is receiving power, whether the timer or controller is calling for it, and whether a breaker has tripped.
- The pump itself. Hum without spin, overheating, a dry seal from running without water, or a motor that has simply reached the end of its run.
- Filter condition. Pressure readings and what is packed in the media. Sandy yards tend to load filters with fine material that is hard to see from the deck.
- Cleaners. Fine sand wears cleaner parts and clogs bags and hoses. A cleaner that wanders, stalls or stops climbing walls often has a worn part, a blocked line or a flow problem upstream.
- Valves and plumbing at the pad. Drips, seepage, and anything that shifted or cracked.
If the pool already went green while equipment was down, recovery is a separate service, typically in the $250 to $500 range and quoted after we see it.
Coastal pads near the Intracoastal and Jupiter Island
Properties east toward the water and near Jupiter Island live with stronger breezes and more salt in the air. That shows up at the pad as corroded fasteners, crusty terminals and weathered cabinets. We note what we can see so owners can plan ahead, and we flag anything that looks like it needs prompt attention.
Approvals for absent owners
Before any repair goes forward, we need to know who can say yes. When you set up service or call about a problem, tell us the owner's preferred contact, a local backup if there is one, and how findings and quotes should reach you. That keeps a stopped pump from waiting on a missed message.
It also helps to tell us where the gate key or pad access is, where the breaker panel sits, and whether a landscaper, house watcher or another pool company has been on the property recently. Small details like a timer someone adjusted or a breaker someone reset can shorten the diagnosis considerably.
Getting help from a distance, and what we refer elsewhere
Our role is diagnosing pumps, filters, valves, heaters, salt systems, automation and cleaners. Structural cracks, resurfacing, decks, screen enclosures and pool construction are outside our scope.
Call or text (772) 919-9365, or request a quote. Include the address, how to reach the pad, and what was reported. If you need ongoing eyes on the pool while you are away, ask about our vacation and second-home service so the next failure is caught on a weekly visit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you diagnose my pool if I am not in Florida?+
Yes, as long as we have safe access to the pool and equipment. We send findings in writing, and repairs only move forward after you approve the quote.
Why does my cleaner keep getting stuck or clogged?+
Fine sand and debris wear cleaner parts and block hoses and bags. Low flow from a dirty filter or a pump problem can also slow a cleaner. We check both the cleaner and the circulation behind it.
The pump stopped while I was away. Is it ruined?+
Not necessarily. It may be a breaker, a timer or a simple fault. We test what is accessible and tell you whether the pump needs repair or whether the problem was elsewhere.
Does weekly service catch equipment failures sooner?+
Weekly visits include observation of accessible equipment, so a stopped pump or new leak is usually spotted within the week rather than at the end of a season.
